Emotional pain is hard. Loss hurts. Bad.

You don’t have to do it alone.

The experience of a parent dying is disconnecting in so many ways. One of the more painful ways you may feel disconnected is that you now walk with a life experience that is different from people your age. You likely have few-- if any-- friends who know what it is like to go through what you are going through.

 

Our aim with group work is to remedy this by coming together with others who are having the same experience, engaging in and honoring their grief and our own. We seek to connect, talk, and support one another through reflecting, creating, and healing acts that help us make sense of our experiences. We gather and meet one another where we are that day in our heads and our hearts, we co-create a space where engaging in our feelings is less scary and far less lonely.

 

In addition to the healing act of community, group can help you:

Understand what to expect when grieving, from yourself and others. What is “normal” for you?

 

Tap into your internal and external resources to help you through

 

Cope with strong emotions that may interfere with the expectations of your everyday life

 

Chart your own unique course through your loss experience with purpose and self-approval

 

Inventory what you can and can’t control

 

Manage the other changes you may be going through with your family, school and social lives- (not all loss-related, but loss-influenced)!

 

Honor your lost loved one and the emotions you are having through art and music
